Bobbi Essers

Guest artist

Bobbi Essers’ work is inspired by her friends, based on youth culture (Flash photography, tattoos and certain clothing pieces, as well as a certain aesthetic images from tumblr and queer culture.

It is about the intimacy between friends where there is a safe space and unconditional love. “I paint my connection with the people around me as the perfect daydream I want to live in”.

Her small works are the snapshots of the little things one starts to notice about friends when one takes the time to really see them, to love them.

In Essers’ larger work, she overlaps images to form an interactive painting where the intimacy is visible but the viewer has to encompass what they see and what is happening. She seek an aesthetic where the two visual images reinforce and balance each other.
