BIJIJOO at Tinimini Room Dordrecht
Nebula
Tinimini Room & Marian Cramer Projects are excited to present Nebula, a solo exhibition by Bijijoo, at Tinimini Room Dordrecht.
Bijijoo has been painting since he was nine and has explored many different styles over the years. He says, “My biggest influence is my daughter—she’s the most creative person I know (and she’s only seven). I mostly make art to process life experiences, so what you see is a reflection of what’s going on in my life and in the world.”
The exhibition takes its name from one of the exhibited paintings, Nebula, which refers to both the clouds in space where stars form and the sense of fog that Bijijoo felt during a transitional time in his life, including moving to a new city. In this painting, two strange, exaggerated figures collide in a chaotic but familiar scene. The forms are grotesque yet recognizable, suspended in a world where things aren’t quite what they seem. It’s a reflection of the strange fog of transition, of finding meaning in the mess of life. This fog, this sense of interconnectedness, runs through these series, as he explores the emotions and experiences that shape his evolution as an artist.
“I like to start with chaos,” he says. “Free brush strokes, paint flows—whatever creates a mess I can work with. From there, I build structure and shape, using a mix of acrylic and oil techniques I’ve developed over time.”
The exhibition takes place at Tinimini Room, Blekersdijk 36, 3311 LE Dordrecht, founded by Dutch painter Ralf Kokke. The artist Bijijoo and gallerist Marian Cramer will be present at the opening.
